Pay It Forward

My lovely Becks put this on her blog today!!! I love the idea of pay it forward because random acts of kindness truly create a wonderful feeling and a sense of purpose. God wants us to make other people happy. In John 13:15 we see God tell us  “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you”

The details: The first 5 people to comment with their email and blog address, will receive from me, sometime in this calendar year, a gift - perhaps a book, a baked good, jewelry, music - a surprise in the mail!  There will likely be no warning, and it will happen when the mood strikes me.
The catch: Those five people must make the same offer on their Blog.

Please participate in this with me! I love to send people things!
So Work on It!

Lord, may we not be so busy or inflexible that we miss the joy of following Your example of servanthood when you provide the opportunity. Remind us of Your abundant blessings, and let us pay it forward! Amen.

Project Time!

So it turns out when you move in with the love of your life, you have to cook for them. No problem for me! I love to cook. But I found myself craving those things I had eaten at my family's houses and I knew Daniel was feeling the same way. So I reached out to all of the gifted ladies in my family and in his! And I got my first letter back today! Daniel's grandmother is one of the nicest most amazing people I have ever met. She truly is a genuine person and everything I strive to be as a housewife, mother, and a person.

This picture is from when Daniel's parents make Apple Butter every year! (Excuse my not so stylish hoodie) The girl in pink is Daniel's little brother's girlfriend Brittany, then his mother, and grandmother! All of these ladies are super strong and I cannot wait to call them all my family(Officially).  The recipes that Grandma Lutz sent me are beyond amazing and things I dont even have recipes for! I really cannot wait to try them out!

Family recipes are cherished for generations to come and often passed down through the years! That is one of the main reasons I started this project. My grandmother cherishes three recipes that her grandmother has written on a piece of newspaper. I think she knows them by heart but the handwriting really makes it special for her. I absolutely adore going to old book stores and finding cookbooks from the 50's and 60's that have someone's handwritten recipes in them. Its the best feeling ever!

I think I want to expand this great search for amazing recipes to my followers! If you want to participate then please let me know! I have no problem giving out my address! The only rules are they have to be on 4x6 cards and handwritten! I love new recipes and I may try out one a week and put them on the blog with you credited of course!

The Valentines Day Question!

Daniel asked me the question last night... "What do you want for Valentines Day?" Gosh! I forgot it was even coming! So I have spent the morning racking my brain about what on earth I could possibly want! He is really funny because we always talk about presents a month or so before and he just puts it all off until the day before! Im going to use this blog to share some of the things I want because Im sure some of yall are trying to come up with some ideas too!
Believe it or not...I have never gotten flowers before! I loathe roses... I always have. I mean why on earth would you give your girlfriend a flower that has thorns all over it. Lilies have always been my favorite flower because of how long they last and how gorgeous they are. Plus they have freckles... LIKE ME!
Everyone knows that I am obsessed with everything Monogrammed. My favorite silver monogram just broke and I need a new one! My grandmother has always told me that the name you are born with is the only one you keep for the rest of your life. My father's opinion is of course that I should not get anymore monogrammed things because soon enough it wont be my monogram anymore! I am absolutely obsessed with Moon And Lola . All of my jewelry is from them and they came out with these state necklaces that I may ask for later this year! They are super reasonably priced and adorable!

The last thing I want is a Kindle Fire. I really get sick of just using my iphone for everything! I have been drooling over Daniel's mothers for months now and we recently found out that they are extremely affordable! Like under 200 dollars! Its absolutely what I need to keep up with work and school without hauling my laptop around everywhere! PLUS! I need books. I miss them so much and hopefully this will get me back to reading a little more! Maybe then I can get this precious cover...
What are yall hoping to get for Valentine's Day?!

Whats for Dinner Wednesday?!

I am starting a new thing! I wanted a way that I could share some of my favorite recipes with yall because I am truly passionate about cooking for my friends and family! Seriously. I force food on people more than I probably should... OH well !

Daniel and I have had a rough past few weeks due to an excessive amount of working on his part and a lack of working on mine. It is causing those stupid fights that everyone has when they get way too stressed. We had a really good talk about it last night and I think that we made great progress! So he has been begging me to make him his favorite chicken casserole for weeks and today being a gross rainy day Im going to make some tonight! Warning! This recipe is not even close to healthy! Its the epitome of yummy fattening comfort food!

Ingredients!
1 box of "Rice Sides" (I use the herb and butter one)
1 package of Sliced Mushrooms
1/2 an 8 ox Container of Sour Cream
1/2 Can of Cream of Chicken Soup
1/2 Can of Cream of Mushroom
2 Chicken Breasts (Cooked and Shredded)
1 Can Fried Onions
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Preparation!
Preheat the oven to 350 F and prepare the boxed rice side as instructed. Usually in the last five or so minutes I throw in the mushrooms so they can begin to start cooking. When the it is completed add the sour cream and the soups in to the pot and mix together until just combined! Next add in the shredded chicken breasts and pour into a baking dish of your choice, I usually use a 9x13 but if you would like it thicker you could place it in an 9x9. Place in the oven and cook for 40 minutes, remove and add fried onions and sprinkle the finely shredded cheddar on top and bake for 5 more minutes!

Take out of the oven and enjoy yourself! This is my favorite comfort food and is perfect for rainy days when you really dont feel like doing anything! I hope yall enjoyed my first try at this! I would appreciate any feedback!

xoxo

Things I am loving Tuesday!

So first off let me say that I am terribly excited that I have four WHOLE followers! Well... Two of them are one of my best friends Becks (http://www.lifewithrme.blogspot.com/) but who cares! It makes me happy that someone is reading all of this nonsense! I love meeting new people and networking so I am really hoping that maybe this blog will open a little bit of that for me! I need new people to talk to and share ideas with because honestly not many of my friends are dealing with a debilitating disease and trying to keep a house looking excellent and a happy man at home!

First thing I am loving this Tuesday is my brand new cookbook!
My Mama Made That is a cookbook that has been put out by our local Junior League! I really am hoping to join in the next few years! I love some of their ideas and they have the best outreach opportunities!  Besides what type of Southern Housewife isn't involved in the Junior League! The tight community of empowered southern women is really what I adore about Virginia. The recipes in this book are essential for any women to entertain!

Next I am absolutely obsessed with a new journal I got last week called a "Smash Book". I became facinated with these when I saw the Video that the company put out!

I of course got the Pretty Pink Smash Book and I have been using it to really keep track of my life and struggles with going to ten million doctors appointments and physical therapy! I have also been sticking little things in there like a picture of Snow when we first got him and a picture of him now! He has gained almost 20 pounds since we got him in November, which he needed because you could see every single one of his ribs! I have put cute little things that Daniel has done, movie stubs for movies we went to see and short little snippets about what I did and did not like. I really think that this book will be a great tool to help me remember how amazing 2013 was for me! My look looks like this, but you can get them in several different colors and styles!

I am absolutely in love with my new nail polishes from Essie! Their Winter 2012 Collection is absolutely to die for!

My absolute favorite is "Shes Pampered" which is a pinkish red and really brings a little summer into the bleak rainy days of winter like today! I wore the antique gold which is called "Beyond Cozy" to my work Christmas Party! It was great and extremely festive for the holidays!

The last thing I am obsessing over today would be my lovely friend Beck's Blog!
This girl is seriously my rock! She is one of the very few people who know all of my crazy secrets and is completely fine with it. She is probably one of the only people other than Family that I talk to on a daily basis. She and I both are falling apart as we put it and it really helps to have someone who understands why you are awake at 2:30 in the morning because of pain and other silly nonsense. She is a super stylish girl and I envy her ootd on a daily basis! She is the first person I consult when I am trying to figure out what to buy for each season! One day I am pretty sure we are just going to run away together and live where noone can bother us! Please check out her blog if you dont already! She is an amazing soul and I could not imagine a life without her
